Helena Jaeschke
Helena Jaeschke - Conservation Development Officer
I provide advice and support for all the museums across the southwest of England on how to look after the objects in their collections. This post is part of the government's scheme to help museums in England which is now administered by Arts Council England. The region covers almost one-fifth of England and contains more than 500 museums.
How I ended up at RAMM
I trained at Cardiff University as an archaeological conservator and worked with museums and excavations for many years, whilst living in north Devon. I was thrilled to be chosen for this post in 2004.
Best part of my job
Working with great people, helping them to care for amazing and varied artefacts of all sorts, from beam engines to buttons, photographs to fossils. Travelling across this beautiful region, from Gloucestershire to Cornwall.
What I like most about RAMM
It’s wonderful to see so many fascinating objects on display, from many different times and places. The knowledge and skills of the people who work here are amazing. I learn new things from them every day.
If you see me in the museum, ask me....
