The majority of RAMM's collections have moved to new permanent, purpose-built, state-of-the-art collections store. A selection of artefacts were on display in RAMM in the Library until March 2010, located next to Exeter Central Library.
The Museum has in its collection approximately 1.5 million objects, ranging from natural history, archaeology, fine art, decorative art and world cultures.
The curators have been working with the redevelopment designers on the new Museum displays; choosing the collections for redisplay; researching and interpreting the collections; writing new labels, working on a new database; building the website; curating exhibitions; and working on the opening shows for when the Museum reopens.

No, the elephant and giraffe had to remain in the building due to their large size. They have been sealed in protective packaging during the redevelopment, and will be moved out of the museum to be positioned into their new gallery spaces in 2010, via a crane.
Yes, they are both real animals shot by Charles Peel and later given to RAMM.
They are almost a hundred years old so please treat them respect. We don't want the elephant's trunk to get worn out!
