Nicki McCaskie – Marketing Officer
As RAMM’s Marketing Officer, my job is to make sure my colleagues’ hard work is shared with the world. Getting RAMM’s stories out there – whether through print media, television news, our website, social media and other channels – is crucial to make sure our audiences know what’s going on at the museum. Celebrating the work we do with partner organisations is also a key part of my role, and I get to work with museum professionals across Devon and further afield.
How I ended up at RAMM
I previously worked for Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, now known as the Deaf Academy, in education marketing. Before that I worked for the National Trust South West, so I have some experience in heritage marketing. I’ve always been a museum lover so getting the job at RAMM was a bit of a dream come true!
Best part of my job
Getting early insights into what’s new and up and coming in the world of museums has been an unexpected highlight – it’s such a fascinating area to work in, and there is some really innovative and dynamic stuff going on! Museums are at the forefront of cultural conversations and there is some important work taking place at the moment to ensure we accurately reflect the communities around us, and the world we live in. Telling those stories is what really excites me, and I love that RAMM is a place where you can openly explore different perspectives on history and culture.
What I like most about RAMM
The atmosphere in the museum itself; it’s a lovely combination of energy and excitement, with this wonderful sense of history and knowledge. It’s a very grounding place to be.
