Stephanie Cherrett – Public Programmes Officer
My role is to encourage and inspire people to discover the delights of RAMM through developing a varied and engaging programme of events. Whether it’s family fun activities, respected speaker events, festival celebrations or educational workshops it’s my responsibility to ensure we offer something for everyone to enjoy, both existing visitors and new audiences.
How I ended up at RAMM
After completing my degree in Social Anthropology I spent many years in London working within marketing and event management roles at attractions such as The Science Museum and ZSL London Zoo, as well as large scale sporting and entertainment events.
I relocated to South Devon a few years ago and since then have worked within the wider tourism industry, promoting the region as a whole as General Manager at Visit South Devon. I have always been keen to get back into the world of visitor attractions and museums so I am delighted to now be working at RAMM.
Best part of my job
I really love the excitement of creating an event from scratch, developing that idea and working with others to deliver it. The reward is to see people enjoying themselves at those events, whether that’s a child learning something new, people dancing to a band or an audience engaging with a performance.
What I like most about RAMM
The buzz of the museum when walking around. Whether it’s a child toddling off to explore, an individual engaged in the content of an exhibit or a group of teenagers laughing at something they’ve just read; the enjoyment that so many different people get from the Museum’s varied collections is great to see.
