Susan Eddisford, Museum Development Officer

Susan Eddisford
Susan Eddisford – Museum Development officer
I advise and support museums across Devon – mainly small and volunteer run museums – on a wide range of things; collections care, accessibility, fundraising, accreditation and keeping abreast of the latest legislation. I also chair the Devon Museums Group and have responsibility for our county wide website http://www.devonmuseums.net/
How I ended up at RAMM
I was part time Education Officer at Tiverton Museum for 11 years and had also been the Museum Development Officer for Teignbridge museums for 7 years. I love working with small museums and saw this post as a challenging opportunity to extend and develop the work I love while being part of and having support from RAMM.
Best part of my job
Meeting people – people in museums are brilliant.
A funny thing happened …
We’d better leave that until we meet and can laugh together.
What I like most about RAMM
Where do I start? I love the way the new displays and interpretation make you look at and think about the objects in a new way. There’s so much to see and think about you can visit over and over again. Plus the people who work here are great – and the pies and pastries are good too!
It was brilliant to see people queuing down the street to get into a museum.
If you see me in the Museum, ask me …
Which Devon museums should be at the top of your list of places to visit.
