Curate a digital collection
25 January 2018
South West Collections Explorer has a new feature to curate a digital collection. The Visitor Collections feature lets you browse collections and curate your own collection. It works across all the collections on South West Collections Explorer. Create a login and then add the objects that interest you.
There’s no limit on the number of collections you can make or on the number of objects in a collection. The collections have sharing built in and are public.
Join those who’ve already collected Dogs of the World, Coffee in Exeter and more!
How to use Visitor Collections
The first step is to go to the Visitor Collections page and register. Once registered login and start collecting. To create a collection choose your first object and view the full page. Then type in a name for your collection and press enter/return to save it. You can then add more objects.
Add objects to an existing collection by viewing the full object page. Then click on the tick box next to the collection name link.
Managing your collections is easy. Click on the collection name and the edit box appears. Here you can change the collection name and description. If you no longer need the collection you can delete it.
Getting the most from a digital collection
The collections feature works across the whole collections website. So you can search across all the collections on South West Collections Explorer. This gives wide search results which you can narrow down. Or use a single collection to give fewer results.
Share on social media using the icons on your collection’s page. Each collection also has it’s own web address to identify it. Copy that link into other places to share your collection.
