Watch a film of ‘In the sweet bye & bye’, a slide dissolve of photographs from John Paul Evans’ exhibition, a work previously on display in the café at RAMM.
We are delighted to share John Paul Evans’ moving photography through this short film, which is now available on our YouTube channel. ‘In the sweet bye & bye’ was exhibiting in the café at RAMM for a limited time due to covid restrictions, but will now be available to view on YouTube for three months.
The film, presented as a slide dissolve, is a poignant reminder of what is lost and what is yet to be lost. The artist’s feelings of nostalgia and grief are intertwined with a sense of peace as John Paul remembers the people closest to him, while observing the sky during his early morning walks to Otter Head. Although this work was initially intended as a memorial to a dear friend, it has become, in the artist’s words, ‘a performance of melancholy and loss, memorialising the passing of those nearest and dearest’.
John Paul Evans is a Welsh-born photographic artist and academic who now lives in Devon, England. RAMM exhibited his some of his photographs in the café last year, including series ‘Home sweet home, 2015’, ‘Kings and Queens, 2016’ and ‘Till death us do part, 2013-17’.
