Local Art Show winner announced
14 April 2015
Chairman and Exhibition Coordinator Mr Roger Bishop expressed the group’s delight at winning the competition “This will be an exciting opportunity and we feel very privileged to have our work displayed in RAMM. As the cultural centre of Exeter it plays a central role in the lives of those who want to learn about world cultures, about art, craftsmanship and the natural world. Any event which attracts people in to this treasure house of ideas, human skill and artistic expression in their finest forms is worthwhile, and we hope that the publicity given to the competition by the Express and Echo and the art works which we will put on show will attract many new people into the RAMM’s doors and so we offer a warm welcome to our first RAMM Exhibition!”
The exhibition will be a snapshot of the members’ work with a wide range of subject matter in different media.
Topsham Art Group started in 1966 with just seven members. Since then it has steadily grown and now has 150 members who meet once a month to enjoy a programme of lectures and demonstrations as well as critiques, workshops, outdoor sketching days and group visits to exhibitions and galleries in the South West. Guests are welcome and frequently attend events. A summer exhibition of the members’ work is held over two weeks in August. This exhibition and the monthly meetings are held at the Topsham Primary School.
The seven groups competing in the 2015 Express & Echo Local Art Show were:
Farringdon Society of Arts
Exeter Art Society
Devon Art Society
Topsham Art Group
United Through Art
Green to Grey
A gallery of their work is available on the Express & Echo website.
