A new website for RAMM
1 September 2016
RAMM is pleased to present a new website. It’s mobile tablet friendly, and it’s also had a redesign to bring it up to date visually. Part of the redesign is to let visitors select what they see on the homepage and what updates they get.
A mobile museum website
With over half of the visits to the museum website being on mobile or tablets after six years the old desktop site needed an update. The new version responds to the device it is viewed on. So on a desktop PC it will fill the screen and if used on a smartphone it shrinks down to fit.
A personalised experience
My RAMM lets visitors login and choose what is on their individual homepage. Using simple tick boxes categories are chosen from a list to select what appears. While browsing the website there’s an option to keep any page as a favourite to save searching for it in future.
RAMM’s free Wifi allows visitors to enjoy these new features in the galleries and cafe.
Inspired by visitors
The new website navigation is built on the past six year’s use of the website. This means the most visited pages are easiest to find and is all part of the overall aim to give RAMM visitors online and in the museum the best visitor experience possible.
The new website was funded by Arts Council England and uses museum sector and wider best practice to reflect the needs of existing and new web visitors.
