RAMM’s Riding Jacket has ridden
27 March 2014
RAMM has loaned three items to Fairfax House for their exhibition Head to Toe: accessorising the Georgians: a ladies riding jacket, a pair of men’s shoe buckles and a stomacher.
Fairfax House prides itself on being the ‘Finest Georgian townhouse in England’. It certainly lives up to this. It is quite stunning with beautiful plasterwork ceilings and many fine paintings and pieces of furniture.
The exhibition opens tomorrow Friday 28 March and is no less stunning. Fairfax House has no costume collection itself, so they have borrowed items from many museums throughout the UK. From the Science Museum to Plymouth, Manchester, Leicester and Liverpool museums they have researched and chosen many interesting and quirky pieces, including many that have not been displayed before.
The exhibition runs until 2 November. For more information visit www.fairfaxhouse.co.uk.
