Become a Friend
Thank you for thinking about becoming a Friend today
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, affectionately known as RAMM, sits at the cultural heart of Exeter.
There is enormous local pride and a strong sense of affection for the multi-award winning museum. Locals view it as one of the jewels in Exeter’s and indeed Devon’s crown. I don’t think I have ever met anyone who wasn’t a friend of RAMM. But of course you can give substance to that friendship by becoming a Friend, capital F this time.
Friends are dedicated not just to supporting the museum both practically and financially, but to making the most of an organisation which brings together a diverse group of people who all have common ground.
Friends enjoy a range of benefits
These include:
- all the benefits of RAMM Membership
- regular Friends newsletters throughout the year
- invitations to RAMM private views
- a selection of diverse talks and events at special Friends rates
- opportunities to visit other places on Friends outings
- and social functions such as coffee mornings and of course the Christmas Party
Joining the Friends means that you can be part of a developing structure of support – one which is increasingly necessary as public funding of the arts and heritage withers away. Your subscription fee goes in its entirety to supporting RAMM continue its important work.
Friends support RAMM in a number of ways
- By making grants available
These might be towards supporting an important new acquisition, help towards staging an exciting exhibition or funds to conserve old and loved parts of the collection. RAMM has no budget of its own for these things so our support is invaluable. Although the museum receives strong support from Exeter City Council, this only covers the basics like keeping the building open and safe
- By being advocates for RAMM
The more voices there are, the louder we can be. From making sure we represent the ordinary RAMM visitor; from the city resident whose family has enjoyed the museum for generations, to new friends young and old who are just discovering what the museum has in store for them. We can also champion the importance of culture and heritage as a driver for connecting our community and enhancing the city as a wonderful place to live, work and visit
If you are a RAMM supporter, then please consider joining us to make that support tangible. We very much look forward to welcoming you.
Thank you
