Teignmouth Art Society in their own words
Teignmouth Art Society celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2018 and has over 140 members from across South Devon. Based in Teignmouth, the society has members from a variety of backgrounds and ages, representing a wide cross section of creative interests and abilities from the beginner to professional artists. We hold regular exhibitions and members are encouraged to develop their individual creative skills through practical workshops and demonstrations by practicing artists. Like any artist, as a Society, we are always looking at ways in which to grow and explore, and the theme of ‘Migration’ has been an exciting challenge for our members.
The enthusiastic response to the theme includes personal stories, interpretations of ‘Migration’ in a historical sense and depictions of political and environmental issues. Others have looked to the natural world and their local environment for inspiration. The work submitted includes abstracts plein-air painting, printing, work in mixed media and embroidery as well as work from the imagination.
If we win this competition, we look forward to the opportunity to share and celebrate our work as a Society in a beautiful venue with a wider audience.
