In February 2024 RAMM invited a diverse group of 12 – 18 year-old Devonians to take part in a nature photography project in partnership with Youth Arts & Health Trust.
Equipped with their smartphones, young participants visited RAMM and adventured across Dartmoor with photographer Jo Bradford in April and May, getting creative and discovering new places in a relaxed and supportive group. Many had no previous photography experience.
This exhibition shows a selection of the young people’s favourite photographs from their Dartmoor walks and offers an insight into their learning experience, encouraging everyone to get out into nature for inspiration and creativity, whatever your age or background. Discover Jo Bradford’s top tips on using your smartphone to take fantastic nature photographs.
The Dartmoor Frame of Mind exhibition complements RAMM’s new contemporary art exhibition Dartmoor: A Radial Landscape, which explores Dartmoor’s evocative landscape through photography, film and Land Art.
The project is jointly being hosted by RAMM, Youth Arts & Health Trust and Green Island Studios.
RAMM’s Dartmoor-inspired programme was funded by Exeter City Council, Arts Council England, Elmgrant Trust and Norman Family Charitable Trust, Art Fund, V&A Purchase Grant Fund, Lord Clinton’s Charitable Trust, RAMM Development Trust, Friends of RAMM, many individual donors and RAMM’s Lead Dartmoor Partner – Dartmoor Preservation Association.
