Fashion a Forage Basket

Join artist Stefan Jennings for this 1.5 hour workshop and learn the timeless art of basket weaving, and watch a demonstration of the ancient craft of spoon carving.

Basket weaving is an ancient craft that dates back thousands of years. Used by communities worldwide, foraging baskets were essential for gathering food, collecting herbs, and storing goods. Made from sturdy, flexible materials like willow and hazel, these baskets were both functional and beautiful, often passed down through generations.

With guidance from artist Stefan Jennings, in this workshop children and their accompanying adults get to explore the natural world and learn the basics of basket weaving, from selecting the right materials to weaving a sturdy, functional basket.

With your new foraging basket in hand, you’ll be ready to take on the wilds and forage to your heart’s extent . . . or use it to store your treasures at home!

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times
