Step into the fascinating world of metalcraft and uncover the secrets of ancient artefacts with Nick from Tanglewood Creations, a skilled craftsman in metalsmithing, woodworking, and sculpture. This hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to create your own relic from the past – no experience required.
What to expect:
Begin by exploring the museum’s treasures to find an object that captures your imagination – perhaps a Roman coin, an ancient figurine, or a weathered arrowhead. Then, using polymer clay, you’ll craft your own version inspired by this object, moulding it by hand and then baking it to harden.
But the real magic happens when you step into the world of ancient alchemy. Using the traditional technique of sand casting, molten metal will be poured into a sand mould made around your creation, transforming it into a one-of-a-kind metallic artefact that’s uniquely yours.
This workshop is not only a chance to learn an ancient craft, but also to connect with history in a tangible, creative way. Your personal piece of history will be a lasting reminder of the skills and stories that have shaped our world.
