Mini Explorer Zone opening day

NB. Owing to a small delay the Mini Explorer zone won’t quite be ready today… but we’re still celebrating with music and activities in the World Cultures Gallery, and visitors can get a sneak peek at the space before it fully opens tomorrow!

Join us to celebrate our new designated early years interactive family area!

RAMM’s new Mini Explorer Zone takes young children aged 0 – 7 on a journey around the world with four new interactive hands-on activity panels, all beautifully illustrated by Holly Astle.

Discover what different homes look like around the world, touch and learn how natural materials are used in different cultures to make clothes and accessories and listen to guess the mystery travel sound! The zone features a creative postcard making station and a reading corner brimming with new international books featuring stories and illustrations to inspire the next generation of mini adventurers. All under a skyscape of cloud lamps and a drifting hot air balloon!

Mike Marks from The Sounds of Learning will be in the gallery with an exciting range of musical instruments from around the world for young visitors to listen to and interact with – pick up an instrument and join in, or just sit back and enjoy the music!

Mike is an enthusiastic music teacher with a background in primary education and offers a range of musical experiences for all ages, including RAMM’s very own Musical moments around the world, musical exploration sessions for under 5s. With a range of authentic instruments from around the world for you to play, explore the music that is flowing through you in the moment, creating the song with whoever else is around you.
