Spoon Carving for home educators

Join craftsman Alex Finberg for a day carving spoons from Dartmoor trees.

We will be carving wind fallen and sustainable wood grown on Dartmoor with knives and hook tools, to create beautiful functional wooden spoons. We will delve into RAMM’s collections to find inspiration in historic spoons from diverse cultures. By recreating ancient spoons, we aim to build a connection through time to the people who once used them, reflecting on the traditions and customs that shaped their culinary culture.

Suitable for young people aged 12 – 18. Accompanying parent/carer (to observe or support) optional. Please note accompanying parents/carers attend free. Parents/carers of unaccompanied young people will be required to fill in a contact details form on arrival.
