The Spring Term dates are sold out.
The Autumn 2025 term dates will be released on Monday 9 June at 8am. Book early to avoid disappointment.
You can also arrange a teacher-led visit to the museum at Teacher-led visits – RAMM (rammuseum.org.uk)
Time Odyssey, created in partnership by Art Explora and the British Museum, is a major new national learning programme that takes students on a quest through their local museum – both physically and virtually. It is an interactive gamified learning experience designed for Key Stage 2* students in a whole day in-person visit (from 10.15am to 2pm) using augmented reality technology on tablets which are loaned to pupils for the visit.
Eligibility criteria: Time Odyssey is aimed at schools which either have a high pupil premium (40%+); or rank highly on the indices of deprivation; or are isolated either by their rurality and have limited transport options.
*Year 3 and 4 students may need additional help during the visit with reading and comprehension.
Schools that meet the above criteria will be able to apply for travel funding up to a maximum of £500. Further information and applications relating to travel grants can be found online at Art Explora Time Odyssey Transport Grant Application Form or you can download a Word file or PDF file
You may also travel by public transport (incl. train) rather than a private hire coach.
Through the course of their adventure at RAMM, students will meet characters and tackle challenges to explore objects and collections from across the world – realised through augmented reality technology on tablets. Students meet characters lost in time – Revna – the viking of the sea, Cheng – a trainee scribe from Ancient China, Felix – future leader from Roman Britain, and Hori – a tomb painter from Ancient Egypt. Together the students will work in teams to tackle five quests and open the time portal to get their chosen character back home.
The students will learn about core themes including Shaping our World, Cultural Connections, Communication, and the Environment, all with History curriculum skills built in. Each activity involves working together, developing key skills and, importantly, having fun!
You can book up to 62 pupils per day up to a maximum of 2 days per school. You should allow for 1 accompanying adult per 10-12 pupils and at least one adult per class must be a qualified teacher.
By continuing you are reserving a date for your visit and will be asked to pay a refundable reservation of £9.50 by debit/credit card. A provisional offer will be sent to you via email within the next 10 working days including the information relating to reclaiming up to £500 towards the cost of your travel. Following the visit the £9.50 reservation fee will be refunded to the original card and will not be retained by RAMM. We will also refund the £9.50 if the provisional offer is declined.
At this stage this is not a confirmed booking, and you should not make any arrangements that cannot be undone.
Once you have chosen your date, select ‘1’ refundable reservation fee ticket. Checkout your basket and you will be asked to create an account on our booking system for your details and to make the payment.
You will also be asked the name of your school, the number of pupils you are bringing and if you require an accessible visit. All provisional offers will include the use of a lunchroom. Note you cannot eat or drink food anywhere inside the museum, there is also a garden for fine days.
Note the refundable reservation fee will be billed as ‘Exeter Tickets’.
