Connect at RAMM
14 March 2012
Visitors to RAMM can use free WiFi to access the Internet while in the museum.
Learning, talking, working and shopping
Providing wifi allows visitors to link museum interpretation with RAMM’s online presence. Visitors with a laptop or smart phone can communicate via the Internet while in the museum and even buy a card or print from our art-on-demand site while sipping a coffee in the café. The wifi network also benefits our corporate bookings by providing Internet access throughout the museum’s meeting rooms.
Who can use it?
Any visitor can use the wifi network free of charge. Simply use your laptop, tablet or smart phone to search for networks and select RAMMuseum. The login and password are on the sign in page to make it easy for everyone to use.
Is it safe?
The wifi network is a managed network which means it is monitored to ensure no inappropriate use is made of it and to keep users are safe from harm.
We are also using the wifi network to support an interactive that runs on an iPad and needs to connect to the Internet. We are now working on a mobile friendly website that will offer collections and exhibitions related tours within the museum in Exeter and Devon.
Is it a first?
As far as we know we are the first local authority museum to have a public Wi-Fi network. Do you know of others?
