The internet is amazing because you are able to connect with people all over the world. However you have to remember to stay safe online, people can join in and pretend to be anyone they like. Here are some tips about online safety.
Remember to keep your password secret
You don’t want people pretending to be you online and looking though your stuff.
All things you post online stay there forever
Even if we have deleted it from the website, the old website still exists somewhere, therefore if in doubt don’t send it in.
Make sure you never give out your personal details
You wouldn’t give a stranger your full address and telephone number, therefore don’t share these over the internet, you never know who might get in touch.
Make it up, make your username as imaginative as you can
If your user name gives away too much about you people might find out other details that you don’t want to share with them.
Keep asking permission to send photographs
Make sure everyone in your photos is happy to be up online, that might include the dog or cat.
If you feel unsafe or unsure tell an adult.
If something another user or image is upsetting you tell an adult, they will then get in touch with us and we will try and sort it out.
Don’t share anything unless you don’t mind the whole wide world seeing it
Lots of people use the internet, your friends and family, their friends and family, school teachers, the list goes on and on and on and on.
Speak to an adult to check that you understand all of the information above
