Audio guide for visually impaired visitors introduces a new way to explore the museum

The audio guide features 16 of RAMM’s key objects, titled the ‘Treasures of the Museum’.

Created in partnership with Living Options Devon and the Exeter sound studio Sound Gallery, the guide provides an hour-long tour, taking in highlights of the collection such as Gerald the giraffe, the samurai armour, and RAMM’s oldest object, the 4 billion year old meteorite.

‘We’re really excited to share this resource with our community’ says RAMM disability champion Nikita Brown. ‘We reached out to Living Options Devon to use their expertise to help us write the script and suggest different audio devices to make sure it’s accessible to as many people as possible, and we made sure that we consulted someone with lived experiences of visual impairment. We hope lots of different people will make use of the audio guide to enhance their visitor experience at RAMM.’

The guide can be found on Soundcloud, or visitors can pick up an audio device to borrow while visiting the museum at Garden Reception from Tuesday 27 June.
