Frame of Mind in March

Launched in 2021, Frame of Mind has been delivering online and in-person mindful photography sessions to small groups of young people.

We are delighted to share that there are places still available on the Frame of Mind photography project for young people aged 14-18. Launched in 2021, Frame of Mind has been delivering online and in-person mindful photography sessions to small groups of young people.

Taking time for curiosity and creativity

The infinite variety in the museum can spark fresh ways of looking at the world. This project offers young people the opportunity to explore the world around them in an entirely new way, examining museum objects mindfully and taking inspiration for their own photography.

No experience or special equipment is necessary. All you need is a camera phone and access to a computer or tablet for online sessions. Supported by a professional photographer and an arts therapist, these sessions suggest simple ways to stop, look and listen to nature to boost your wellbeing.

Who can join in?

Frame of Mind is open to everybody aged 14-18, and we are particularly interested in offering places to those experiencing mental health challenges.

Take a look at the online exhibition made by young people who have taken part so far. One young photographer said:

“The project allowed me to take a step back and really appreciate the world around me.”

RAMM’s Engagement Officer Ruth Gidley said:

“The project is not a search for perfection. We wanted an antidote to the culture of showcasing rapid snaps of flawless faces without context or character. This is a chance to look slowly and outwards at the cycles of nature. It’s all about enjoying your own creativity and curiosity, and taking a pause to feel grounded on the planet.”

How to get involved

We have limited spaces left on the next group, which will be running in March and April 2022. Photography sessions will be held online on Mondays from 5.00-6.30pm, with an optional visit to RAMM on a Saturday afternoon.

If you feel nervous about being on video, we are happy to work around you and how you are comfortable taking part. We are also open to discussing 13 year olds joining us.
