RAMM’s a finalist in the Visit Devon ‘Visitor Attraction of the Year’ category
Following an incredibly difficult year for the tourism industry, the Visit Devon awards ceremony was held online yesterday afternoon, providing a chance to recognise the hard work and resilience of attractions across the county.
RAMM had been chosen as a finalist in the Attraction of the Year category alongside the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh, and South Molton’s Quince Honey Farm and we are delighted to announce we were awarded Bronze in the category, alongside the Quince Honey Farm. The winner of the Gold Award was Pennywell Farm, with the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, taking Silver.
Our museum has seen a year of adaption, innovation and perseverance due to the ever-changing nature of the pandemic, with the building open for 6 weeks in total since March 2020. Prior to this staff were busy delivering a programme of dynamic and inspirational events, exhibitions and community projects. Since last March, much of this content has had to move online, with new digital activities taking place on the museum website and across its social media channels.
Cllr Amal Ghusain, Exeter City portfolio holder for communities and culture, said:
“We are delighted that RAMM has been awarded Bronze in the Visitor Attraction of the Year category of this year’s Visit Devon tourism awards, and we extend our congratulations to the category winners, Pennywell Farm.
The staff at RAMM have dealt with some very difficult circumstances this year, as have we all, and to be chosen as finalists is a recognition of their hard work. Looking to the future, the museum is well-placed to support Exeter’s post-Covid recovery plan – as a peaceful, restorative place, it is somewhere that the people of Exeter can come to escape the stresses of the pandemic and we look forward to welcoming visitors back.
We would also like to extend our congratulations to the other finalists in the category – Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway and Quince Honey Farm– who have done such a fantastic job in difficult circumstances over the past year.”
