The past and future of transport and travel - with academics from the University of Exeter

What routes did the Romans take through Europe and what can we learn from them?

What has been the effect of the development of faster travel on how we live today?

What has changed about the daily commute through history and what can it tell us about society?

These are just some of the questions to be explored during this engaging evening of transport and travel history hosted by academics from the University of Exeter.

Starting with a collection of talks around the subjects mentioned above, the evening will then include an opportunity to chat to lecturers in Film, Classics, English, History, Modern Languages and Computer Science about their research and views on the past and future of travel. There will also be an opportunity to trial being an Air Traffic Controller, exploring the future of AI in flight and to learn more about objects from RAMM’s collection up close.

If you would like to include a visit to our exhibition ‘Are we nearly there yet?’ please arrive at 6pm as the galleries will be open for half an hour before the event starts.

Please note – even though this event is free we do ask that you book a ticket to ensure a space at the event.
