Linda Ward, an artist-filmmaker and Lecturer on Filmmaking at the University of Plymouth talks about the work of Bill Viola.
When we approach Viola’s work, do we expect to be changed or to experience something profound? Viola is recognised internationally as a pioneer of video art and one of its leading practitioners. This talk considers his interest in temporality and religious metaphors. It will focus on the implications of extended time in Catherine’s Room (2001), Four Hands (2001) and Surrender (2001), on exhibition at RAMM from the end of January.
